Brentwood Restaurant Website
client: Brentwood Restaurant (FoodCoWest)
website: www.brentwoodrestaurant.com
Compared to other Foodcowest restaurants, Brentwood not only has a more distinct style but also its website needed to contain more pages requiring a more complex menu structure. Therefore, while in terms of style and form, diverging from the uniform design structure of other FoodcoWest websites, I tried to keep certain elements the same so that visitors, in an unconcious and very subtle way assaciate this one with the others.
Unique Design
Working closely with co-owner Richard Drapkin and maitre'd Michael Tower, I created a color palette and overall look that closely matched key characteristics of Brentwood Restaurant.
Customized Facebook Fanbox
Under the "What's New" section, Facebook fanbox allows the maitre'd to make announcements on Brentwood's facebook page with extreme ease and have those updates reflected in real time on the website. This efficient use of social media adds immediacy to the site's message and promotes traffic and user interaction between the website and the Facebook page. A custom CSS stylesheet ensures seemless visual integration of this great tool.
CSS Rollover Menus
All of the buttons are either CSS image or CSS text rollovers, therefore both lightweight in code and easy on the client machine.
Flash Slideshow
Instead of using a static image, I've used a flash slideshow which consists of both food pictures and location photos.
Scalable full screen background
The background consists of an image which scales according to the size of the browser while preserving its ratio.
Photography
While the wide shots give a cozy feel by showing the restaurant with patrons, the close-ups portray the unique characteristics of the restaurant. The food photos are shot in high key, same style as all other Foodcowest restaurants.
